How to create a segment in a list in Emercury?



To create a segment in a list, on the main menu bar of the Emercury Email Marketing Manager, click 'LISTS'.



The browser displays the LIST MANAGEMENT page with the available lists.


Click 'LIST ACTIONS' and choose 'NEW SEGMENT'.



The browser displays the CREATE SEGMENT dialog box. In the Segment name field, enter the name of the segment.In the optional Description field, enter the brief description of the segment.In the Choose segment type' field, select the 'Create segment based on a List option' to create a segment in a list.Click the 'CONTINUE' button.



The browser displays the CREATE SEGMENT dialog box to add the conditions for the segment. Click the 'Select a List' drop-down list and select the list in which you want to create a segment.Click the 'Match' drop-down list to select how you want to match the specified criteria with the contacts in the list.Click the 'Add Condition' link to add the condition criteria for the segment.



The CREATE SEGMENT dialog box displays the fields for adding the condition criteria.
a. Click the first drop-down list and select the field on which you want to set the condition.
b. Click the second drop-down list and select the criteria how you want to match the selected
field with the contacts in the list.
c. In the text field, enter the value that you want to match with the selected field in the contact.
d. (Optional) click the (-) icon for the criteria that you want to delete.

Click the 'Add Amount Limit' link to add the amount limit criteria for the segment.




The CREATE SEGMENT dialog box displays the fields for adding the amount limit criteria.

a. In the Starting Point field, enter the value from where you want to start the segment in the list.

b. In the Total Amount field, enter the no. of emails that you want in a segment.
Note: For example if you set the starting point to10,000, then Emercury Email Marketing Manager
collects the subscriber information from the record at the 10,000 position. So, if you post 20,000
total amount, then your list size will be 20,000 and will go from 10,000 to 30,000.
c. (Optional) click the (-) icon for the criteria that you want to delete.

Click the 'Date Added' link to add the date criteria for the segment.




The CREATE SEGMENT dialog box displays the fields for adding the date criteria.
a. Click the From Date drop-down list and select the date that you want to match with the contacts
 created on or after the specified date.
b. Click the To Date drop-down list and select the date that you want to match with the contacts
created on or before the specified date.
c. (Optional) click the (-) icon for the criteria that you want to delete.

After you complete specifying all the criteria, click the 'SAVE SEGMENT' button to save the new segment.
The ALL LISTS page displays the new segment, which displays the contacts from the list that matchesthe specified criteria.
